6 Healthy Drinks to Make at Home

Let’s be honest - we know how boring drinking water can feel sometimes. Hydration is important, but can feel monotonous. Sometimes, you just want something to mix it up without being sugar-laden leading to mid-day crashes or of high cost.

Did you know you can make delicious, custom, and healthy drinks at home?

In this guide, we’ll share six of our favorite healthy drink recipes that you can easily make at home and the tumblers that pair perfectly.

Cucumber Mint Water

Infused waters are a classic way of elevating your hydration and aiding digestion. Plus, they are super easy to prep and take with you in your favorite tumbler.

You’ll need:

  • ½ cucumber, thinly sliced

  • 8 fresh mint leaves

  • 10 oz cold water

  • Ice, if desired

Simply slice up your cucumber and mint and add them to your glass or tumbler. Pour your water over top and give it a good stir. Let the cucumber and mint sit for a few minutes before adding in the ice and then you are ready to enjoy. Is this cucumber mint water giving you mojito vibes too?

Mint and Basil Tea

Mint and basil are rich in both antioxidants and flavor. Put them together and you have a simple, yet delicious tea that can be served hot or iced.

You’ll need:

  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves

  • 1 handful fresh basil leaves

  • Honey or sweetener of your choice

  • 10oz of hot water

Before you start, be sure to thoroughly rinse your herb leaves. While boiling water, gently press the leaves down with the back of the spoon. This is called bruising them, and allows the leaves to release the oils inside of them, providing you with more flavor. Toss your freshly bruised leaves into your mug and pour the hot water over top. Allow the leaves to steep for 5-7 minutes or longer if you prefer a stronger tea. Add in your preferred sweetener and you are ready to enjoy!

Elderberry Mocktail

You’ve probably heard of elderberry syrup, but have you heard of an elderberry mocktail? This drink combines the immune-boosting properties of elderberries with the light and refreshing flavors of cranberries and citrus.

You’ll need:

  • ½ cup elderberry syrup

  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cranberry juice

  • 1-2 tbsp honey or agave syrup

  • Juice of ½ a lemon

  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda

  • Ice as desired

  • Fresh mint

Add your elderberry syrup (homemade or store bought), cranberry juice, honey or agave syrup, lemon juice, and ice to a mixing glass or shaker. Stir or shake until combined and thoroughly chilled. If you’re not a fan of citrus pulp, you will want to strain your drink to separate the lemon. Once you’re happy with the consistency and flavor, toss in your mint leaves and sip away!

Green Juice

Green juice is a deliciously simple way of packing your glass full of nutrients. There are countless ways of making green juice, so feel free to swap in any of your favorite greens.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cucumber

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 1 green apple, sliced and cored

  • 1 pear

  • 1 celery stalk

  • ½ lemon, peeled

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled

  • 1 cup of water or coconut water

  • Ice if desired

Chop all of your ingredients into small pieces that will be easy to send through your juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, simply swap a blender, but be sure to add water to the veggies as you blend. Once all of your ingredients have been blended or juiced, stir them together to meld the flavors. If you aren’t loving the texture of the juice, feel free to strain it. If your juice is too thick, add water to thin it out. For an added boost of flavor, use coconut water.

Agua Fresca

Agua frescas combine the benefits of infused water with the natural sweetness of fruit. The best part? Making them at home is as simple as drinking them!

You’ll need:

  • 4 cups of fresh fruit(s) of your choice

  • 1-2 tbsp of honey or agave syrup

  • 4 cups of cold water

  • Ice

Cut your fruits and toss them into the blender with your chosen sweetener. Once your fruit is smoothly blended, add it to a pitcher of water and stir until mixed. Taste your mixture and add more sweetener or water as needed. Now, here’s the hard part. For the best results, you’ll want to let your agua fresca chill for at least an hour to really soak up the flavor of the fruit. When it’s ready, spice it up with fresh herb leaves or lemon slices.

Tart Cherry Mocktail

With this recipe, you’ll forget your sipping on antioxidants and Vitamin C and be immersed in a cocktail-like experience.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup tart cherry juice

  • 1 lime or lemon

  • 2 tbsp honey or agave syrup

  • 1 cup sparkling water

  • Ice

  • Fresh mint

Combine the lemon or lime juice, tart cherry juice, and honey or agave syrup in a pitcher. Stir the ingredients together until you can see the sweetener has fully dissolved. Allow the drink to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Once chilled, add your sparkling water and stir to combine. To serve, top with your favorite herbs or citrus slices. For bolder flavors and added antiinflammatory properties, try adding basil or ginger.
